Drink recipes

Of course, our Australian native botanical mixers may be enjoyed with still or sparkling water, with soda, tonic, lemonade or seltzer. They keep hydrated those who rarely drink because they don't like "plain tasteless" water.

You may add our botanical mixers to provide Aussie flavours to a dry white wine or a French Champagne. You can call me a snob, but Champagne can only be French as it comes from the Champagne region, in the outskirts from Paris in France.

Violet & Gold's Australian botanical mixers also elevate hot milk, milk or mylk tea, smoothie and thick shakes, and even coffee.

It might be in the mixology area that V&G's premium Australian native mixers deliver the best of their wonderful and unique flavours. With the lockdown in place, more Australians have turned to books, videos and webinars to learn how to prepare and enjoy their home-made cocktails. And they now look for new flavours. The amateur mixologist and cocktail enthusiasts can now create their own cocktail using liqueurs to mix with our handmade small batches Australian native botanical mixers.

Here are a few drinks and cocktail ideas. Feel free to develop your own cocktails, post them on social and tag @violetandgold.sydney !

The V&G Hugo cocktail

Nothing sounds more like summer than a Hugo cocktail... well, in my opinion that is. Such a simple and elegant cocktail that can be poured in a matter of minutes.

* 30 ml V&G's lemon myrtle syrup mixer
* 70 ml dry sparkling white wine
* 20 ml sparkling water
* lots of ice cubes

HOW TO PREPARE

  • Place your ice cubes in your coupe or wine glass
  • Add your V&G Lemon myrtle syrup mixer first
  • Then pour in your sparkling dry white wine and top up with sparkling water. For a littler cocktail, simply pour less wine and add more sparkling water.
  • Gently stir.
  • Add a slice of lime or a sprig of mint to garnish
  • Relax and sip away the afternoon!

1 large or 2 small bananas
ice cubes

  • Strain into tall glasses. Enjoy!

Australian Margarita

Margarita... We twisted it with the Australian flavours of the lemon myrtle. For this recipe, you will need

HOW TO PREPARE

  • Juice your limes and keep the fruit to rim your glass.
  • Add a bit of salt in a saucer.
  • Holding your glass at a 45 degree angle, slightly rim the glass with salt - halfway if you can, to ensure you don't overload with salt. Reserve the glass in a freezer if you have space.
  • In a shaker, pour the lemon myrtle syrup mixer, the lime juice, the tequila and ice cubes. Close and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds.
  • Strain and pour the liquid in the shaker into your cool glass

Hot Choc Mint

Simplicity at its best! One of my preferred ingredients - after our handcrafted syrup mixers, of course - is dark chocolate. In this recipe, we use the healthy cocoa, which bitterness is softened by the minty tones of our peppermint gum syrup mixer. Works great anytime of the day!

Ingredients for 1 serve

* 2 TBS cocoa (I told you I love cocoa!)

5ml Peppermint Gum Syrup mixer or more to taste
* 200 milk or vegetal mylk (soy works great)

HOW TO PREPARE

    • Add the cocoa in a mug. Pour the mylk - and stir until the cocoa is dissolved.
    • Heat in the microwave for a minute. Stir again and heat again for another minute.
    • Pour about 5ml peppermint gum syrup mixer. Stir.
    • Enjoy while it is hot!

If you prepare more than 1 mug, use a sauce pan to heat the mylk and stir the cocoa with a whisk.
